Background Large quantities of literature reports that there is a considerable majority of the nursing staff did not recognize the importance of health education, and the current health education research about clinical nursing are merely stay at the impact of factors, approaches, methods and effects of evaluation. Even if the studies are on the effect of evaluation indicators, these assessments also start from the nurses'job and very few from the patient's needs, many of which are confined to a specific section or a disease. Therefore, this article studies the need for health education based on the patient's point of view on the development of health education, care and health education, which aims at a comprehensive, in-depth and effective health education, makes it a means to improve quality of care and provides an evaluation basis for care managers'health education.Objective To know the needs of patients for health education and influencing factors, exploring the effective ways to improve the effectiveness and the patients satisfaction of health education.Methods A total of 150 patients completed the Questionnaire and a Demographic Questionnaire (DQ).Descriptive correlation analysis was made for the outcome.Results The stactic analysis indicated that the extent of needs for four dimentions were'health knowledge(27.29±2.74)','self-care'(13.65±1.35),'others'(11.08±1.3)and'psychological need'(9.27±1.47). The gender has no statistic significance for four dimensions. The age has no statistic significance except psychological need. Occupation, the degree of education, the medical insururance and the place of residence all have the statistic significance for'psychological need','health knowledge'and'self-care'. The marriage has no statistic significance for four dimensions. In nineteen items patients preferred to get more and extensive information about'whether he has been diagnosed'(92.0%),'the charge of inpatient'(89.3%),'the careness from nurses'(84.0%), while patients have no interest in knowing of''the measures of safety in the hospital'(32%).Conclusion:Statistic analysis was executed with analysis of variance with single-factor was performed and the influencing factors included age, occupation, education level, residential land and medical insurance. Both marriage and gender have no influence. The influential factors of 'psychological need'include the place of residence, vacation and culture degree, of which the place of residence is the most influential factor; The influential factors of'health knowledge'include clinical insurance, vacation and culture degree, of which culture degree is the most influential factor; The influential factors of'self-care'include age, vacation and place of residence, of which the place of residence is the most influential factor; The influential factors of'others'include age, vacation and clinical insurance, of which the vacation is the most influential factor.Conclusion The needs of health education results from many factors in different patients. In the nursing practice, Nurses should depend on personal situation and provide professional knowledge support to patients, satisfy their needs for health education and enhancing their quality of life.
