Object: To compare wrist-ankle acupuncture with body acupuncture , which is more superior in relieving spinal root pain in a short time and provide a simple, inexpensive, effective and less painful method for treating the nerve-root type cervicospondylopathy. Methods: 51 cases observed were randomly divided into two groups: the treatment group with 26 cases to take wrist-ankle acupuncture and the control group with 25 cases to take body acupuncture. The Visual Analogue Scale was used to display the score of patient′s pain before the treatment, 5 min ,15 min and 30 min after needling. Result: There is significant difference in total remission rate of the two groups in 5 min after needling (P<0.05), but there is no difference in 15 min, 30 min after needling (P>0.05). The analgesic effect of the treatment group is significantly better than that of the control group in 5 min,15min and 30 min after needling(P<0.01). Conclusion: Both groups are able to alleviate the pain, but the analgesic effect of the treatment group is obviously superior to that of the other group. This issue does not only provide a clinical reference for further in-depth study of the efficacy of wrist-ankle acupuncture, but also a line of thought for alleviating nerve-root pain rapidly, and has a certain theoretical significance and clinical value.
