The Clinical Research Of Treating Cervice Vertigo By The Dingxuan Decoction

Object: To observe the clinical curative effect of Dingxuan decoction on Cervical Vertigo (CV) of Spleen qi deficiency and phlegm Retention type, and to discuss on the theory of strengthening the spleen and replenishing qi, dispelling phlegm and resolving dampness, ascending the clear and descending the turbid method, so as to provide scientific basis for the further application. Methods:70 subjects suffering CV were selected in the research. They were randomly divided into two different categories: the Treatment Group (Dingxuan decoction-group 37 subjects) and the Control Group (Flunarizine-group 33 subjects).The 70 subjects in the two groups were all treated for three weeks. The subjects were detected by Trans Cranial Doppler (TCD) and asked to fill in the"Cervical Vertigo Symptoms, Physical signs and Function Evaluation Scale"(ESCV) questionnaires for pre-initial treatment and post-3 course treatments; then the sharp contrasts between them were made on their Symptoms, Physical signs , Function and the blood flow supply of the vertebral artery (VA) and the basilar artery (BA) of the CV patients after treatment. Results: The total efficiency of the Treatment Group is 94.59%, while in the control group it,s 84.85%; Obviously the difference between both group was statistically significant (P<0.05). Also the two groups have shown improvements in Vertigo (P<0.01) and the Treatment Group is better than the Control Group in some of the symptoms (Shoulder pain), signs (pulse and tongue) and function (Psychological ability or Social accommodating ability) (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Besides the Treatment Group can improve the blood flow supply of the VA and the BA (P<0.01). Conclusion: The Dingxuan decoction can significantly improve the Symptoms, Physical signs and Function of the CV patients, and also make better the blood flow supply of the VA and BA in the CV patients after treatment. The research has proved the validity and feasibility on the CV patient,treatment by strengthening the spleen and replenishing qi, dispelling phlegm and resolving dampenss, ascending the clear and descending the turbid.
