Objective To evaluate the situation of job satisfaction and turnover intention among headnurses from grade-3and grade-2 general hospitals of Changsha city,to identify the factors influencing headnurses' job satisfaction,and to explore the relationship between job Satisfaction and turnover intention.Methods 580 headnurses from grade-3 and grade-2 general hospitals of Changsha city participated in this study.The following contents were contained in the questionnaire:the demographific data,the scale of index of work satisfaction(IWS)and the scale of turnover intention.Data collected in the study was analyzed with SPSS 13.0,including descriptive statistics,completely randomized design analysis of variance,pearson correlations,and analysis of pearson correlation.Results1.580 headnurses agreed to paticipate in the study and 512 effective records were obtained.The response rate was 87.7%2.The mean scores of each dimensionality of job satisfaction in IWS among headnurses were showed as fellowing by descending order: work condition(3.62),income(3.59),colaboration and interaction (3.19),vocation status(3.19),independence(2.98)and organization policy(2.60).Job satisfaction among headnurses differed significantly with age,the first education degree,work time,manage time and position title(P<0.05)while no significant difference appeared among headnurses with different marriage status,the highest education degree, and hospital grade.3.Headnurses' turnover intention score was 15.23±2.63 and the mean was 2.54.Income,independence,colaboration,vocation status and organizatin policy related to turnover intention negatively (P<0.05),while work condition did not related to turnover intention.Conclusion1.In this study,the total score of work condition was 21.69±2.81 with the mean 3.62;income was 21.45±2.63 with the mean 3.59;colaboration was 35.08±3.27 with the mean 3.51;vocation status was 22.35 with the mean 3.19;independence was 23.81±3.56 with the mean 2.98; organization was 18.24±3.47 with the mean 2.602.The factors such as age,the fist degree,the highest degree,work time,manage time and position title had an influence on some dimensionalities of hesdnurses' job satisfaction.3.The turnover intention of headnurses in the city of changsha was in a mid-level.Income,independence,colaboration,vocation status and organizatin policy affected headnurses' turnover intention negatively,and organization policy was the most important factor.
