| Bee-puncture therapy is one of the special traditional Chinese therapeutics. It provides a new treatment for rheumatoid arthritis,ankylosing spondylitis, and etc.which are controlled by glucocorticosteroid nowadays.On the other hand,side effects of bee-puncture also attracts doctors and patients,such as itching,fever,swelling,urticaria,pigmentation of skin,etc.preventing itself from being generalized.Itching,as well as other side effects of bee-puncture,most likely occurs at the beginning of this therapy.This research was designed to find out the law of itching caused by bee-puncture, to lessen it and to find an effective way to stop it,in order to increase the compliableness with this therapy.Between June of 2007 and April of 2008,70 patients were brought in this research,all treated with bee-puncture in the bee-puncture clinic in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The research emphasizes on the law,degree,duration,related factors and mechanism of the itching,as well as how to prevent it from happening.We processed the data statistically.Results:①Itching caused by bee-puncture is prevalent clinically.The incidence is 98.57%,and most of the patients(92.83%)firstly feel itching on the first and the second day after the treatment.The patients experienced a continuing process of mild -severe-mild itching,with the general peak of one or two degree,i.e. itching or quite itching.Together,81.43%of the patients experienced a peak of itching of one or two degree.②The sensitive phase of itching happened between the 1stand 6thtime of the treatment,lasting about 1 to 4 weeks,during which the 2ndto 4thtime of the treatment,or the 2ndto 3rdweek is the peak. The itching got milder and steadier after the phase and evenly the therapy continued.③There are obvious significance on the incidence of itching occurring at the 1sttime of bee-puncture,i.e.Patient with a history of bee-puncture has a higher incidence of itching(P＜0.01).④between the groups of with and without drugs,there are also obvious significant difference of the degree of itching caused by bee-puncture,i.e.the group without drug suffer more severe itching.⑤67.86%of the patients with itching experienced more severe itching when they had a fever,which indicated that there is aggravation of the itching accompany with fever.⑥There are 28.57%of the patients required for itching-stopping,however,neither the hot water application nor the medicated oil rubbing can offer a satisfying effect.They can only relieve or lighten itching temporarily.Conclusion:①The view that the itching caused by bee-puncture is an anaphylaxis to the bee venom is considered to be reliable,after the author analyzed the allergen,onset of the itching,effect of desensitization therapy. Bee venom is an mixer composed of multiple protein and other substances,of which more than 70%is variant proteins,i.e.variant allergen to human-being. There are delitescence before bee-puncture reaction,besides,there are obvious significance between the syndrome of primary response and the syndrome of secondary response.Low-dose,multiple times application of desensitization therapy can reduce the incidence of fever from 99%to 40%.②The author also explained the reason that the better itching-stopping effect of Compound Dexamethasone Acetate from the angle of anaphylaxis,besides,the author also recommended several therapy for itching-stopping,such as meditation(antihistamine,anti-allergic,etc.),physical therapy (electro-acupuncture),psychological therapy,musical therapy,etc.To provide better itching-stopping methods caused by bee-puncture with more clinical basis,further more research is required.
