Objective: Through a more comprehensive survey of the pruritus to analyseclinical characteristics and prevalence, and to assess the severity of itching,itsimpacton in quality of life, itching characteristics,and provide new clinical data.Methods: The study collects464patients in dermatology outpatient in2013.3.21-2013.3.29, and226patients of pruritus.Questionnaire include: basicinformation (such as age, gender, education level), personal history (obstetricalhistory), itching history, skin diagnosis, itching effects on mental and sleeping,itching treatment and the itching distributions.We contact directly with patients wheninvestigate, and carefully observed the lesions in patients,carefully asked patients tocomplete the questionnaire.Finally data are analyzed by SPSS16.0software, and gotthe results between different variables and itching.Results: In the study, itching is a common clinical Symptom.And226(48.7%)patients suffering itching. There has108patients suffering itching is less than sixweeks, accounting for47.8%,including44males and64females, ages31.05±15.69,pruritus intensity is4.45±2.39;118patients itching is more than six weeks,accounting for52.2%, including53males and65females, ages40.31±17.99,pruritus intensity is4.63±2.33. In226pruritus patients, of which76(33.6%)allergic patients, infected patients53(23.8%),22(9.7%) patients with psoriasis,24(10.6%) eczema patients,1(0.4%)patients with venous disease,3(1.3%) cancerpatients,5(2.2%) acne rosacea patients, itching caused by other diseases andunexplained itching is42(18.6%). Involving itching site is3.52±3.61, There has143(63.3%) cases make treatment due to itching.8(3.5%) patient’s sleep is notaffected, and the rest of the patient’s quality of sleep suffer different degrees impact.2cases (0.9%) patient’s mood with pruritus are not affected, the remaining patientssuffer varying extent affect. The patient’s family structure (marriage, children), work,education levels have different effects for patient’s itching time. Conclusion:1. Itching is a common symptom of skin disease.And the patient’s health anddaily lives suffer great damage because of itching.2. Itching time has nothing with itching site and sex, Relating to patient’s familystructure (obstetrical history), work status, education levels.
