Objective: The efficacy of herbal therapy based on the sensory integration training in children of SID with the liver and kidney yin deficiency pattern.Methods: 86 children with SID were randomly assigned into two groups. 42 children in one group were treated with SI training and Liuwei Dihuang herbal medicine. 44 children in the other group were giving only SI training. After one period of treatment, all the children were evaluated with the Sensory Integration Function Tests, and the clinical efficacy were also observed.Results: The differences of the Sensory Integration Function Tests between the treatment group and the control group were significant (p<0. 05). The scores of vestibule unbalance,feeling excess recovery,proprioception unbalance,study ability development in the treatment group were all improved significantly comparing with the control group (p<0. 05). Except the symptom of eeriness, the improvement of other symptoms, including body harmonious ability,attention,mood stabilization, were better in the treatment group, and the differences were significant (p<0. 05). the chief symptoms of liver and kidney yin deficiency were better in the treatment group, and the differences were significant (p<0. 05-0.01).Conclusions: The group with additional Liuwei Dihuang herbal therapy in children of SID has better effect comparing with the single SI training one.
