The Clinical Research On Cervical Vertigo Treated With Houxi&Shenmai Acupuncture

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect and possible mechanism of cervical vertigo (CV) treated with Houxi&Shenmai acupuncture therapy.Methods: 66 cases of CV were chosen and randomly divided into treatment group(with Houxi&Shenmai)of 36 cases and control group(with Jiaji acupoint)of 30 cases. It comprised 6 days in a course and treated once a day, retaining needles for 30 minutes. The indexes were checked as bellows before the commencement and after the completion of 1 course: 1) The change of main clinical symptoms and physical sign of clinical curative effect. 2) Some indexes of blood flow velocity of systolic apex(Vs),diastasis (Vd),mean(Vm) of vertibra-artery and basilar artery(BA) checked by TCD.Result: Both groups can improve the cerebral blood supply by improving VBA blood. But there was a statistical meaning between the two groups(P<0.05 or P<0.01)compared with clinical symptom and physical signs, effective rate and the Vs,Vd,Vm checked by TCD. The therapy effect in treatment group was better than that in control group.Conclusion: Cervical Vertigo treated with Houxi&Shenmai acupuncture is better than with Jiaji acupuncture. It could be distinctly improved about the physical signs and symptoms of vertigo, such as neck-shoulder pain, sick, vague in vision and so on in treatment group.This study proves that Houxi&Shenmai acupuncture therapy is effective on cervical vertigo. It's worth extensive application and deeper research.
