Objective:To observe the curative effect of Huoxuebusui Tang(HXBST) for treatment of steroid-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head(SANFH),and explore the mechanism in the effect of HXBST and the mechanism of SANFH.Methods:In the experimental study,20 New Zealand rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups:Group A(the normal group), Group B(the model group), Group C(the control group) and Group D(the treated group).SANFH models were created in Group B,C and D by He′s operational methods.The rabbits in Group C were treated with Xianlinggubao Capsule (XLGBC) and HXBST was used in Group D. 8 weeks later, to determine the content of Boneγ-carboxyglutamic acid (BGP),Interleukin-6(IL-6)in serum and four items of vascular endothelium . Then to kill the rabbits and get the femoral head for Optical microscope study. In the clinical study, HXBST was used in 21 cases of SANFH as the treated group compared with 20 cases treated by XLGBC for curative effect observation.Results: The experimental study showed in group B(the model group) the apparent necrosis of femoral head , the contents of BGP,NO in serum and PGI2 in plasma were apparently higher, the contents of IL-6 in serum and ET,TXA2 in plasma were apparently lower. The changes of the control group and the treated group were among the normal group and the model group. The changes of above indices had significant difference in the treated group and the control group (P<0.05). In the clinical study,the effect of anti-inflammatory and analgesic,the improvement of clinical total curative effect in the treated group were all superior to those in the control group.Conclusions:Through the Experimental and Clinical study, The curative effect of Huoxuebusui Tang(HXBST) of the treated group was better than that of the control group. The mechanism might be related with increasing the level of BGP,NO in serum and PGI2 in plasma,decreasing the level of IL-6 in serum and ET,TXA2 in plasma.
