Influence Of Electroacupuncture At Zhisanzhen On Depression Symptom And Quality Of Life In Patients With Post-stroke Depression

Background: Depression is the frequent complication of post-stroke depression(PSD). In our country, incidence of the disease is about 23.0%～76.1%, similar to overseas. Depressive state does not only hamper nerves function, but also raise death rate and have a severely bad effect on the quality of acromeglic life. lf it can be diagnosed and given effective treat clinically in time, the mutilation and death rate will be cut down, and the quality of acromeglic life will be improved.As is known, western medicine in effect on the disease has much side effect on digestive and nervous system, and is also very expensive, which makes PSD patients hardly accept it.Acupuncture therapy for this disease is confirmed to be in effect and have less side effect, which is easily accepted by sufferer. But departed researches are generally only clinical experience summaries or observations, which are short of rigorous random control studies. My tutor acupunctures Zhi sanzhen, closely related to psychical diease, to treat PSD and have an good effect, which is according to Chinese medical theory.Objective:To investigate the depression symptom and quality of life change on the patients with PSD after electroacupuncture.Methods:S2 PSD patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. In treatment group, electroacupuncture was given at Benshen and Shenting, Taichong, Neiguan and Congsun included when necessary. In control. group, acupuncture was given at Shuigou, Neiguan, Shenmen, Taichong. All the patiens were evaluated by HAMD and TCM Rating Scale before treatment, 3 and 6 weeks after treatment, by WHO-QOL before and after treatment.Results:In treatment group, significant change accures after 6 weeks, according to before treatment, in HAMD, TCM Rating Scale, and G1, G4, physiology, psychology, environment sides of WHO-QOL After 6 weeks treatment (P＜0.05) there is significant difference 2 groups in HAMD, TCM Rating Scale, and psychology side of WHO-QOL after 6 weeks (P＜0.05). There are more positive effects on PSD patients in treatment group than in control group, either evaluated by HAMD or TCM Rating Scale (P＜0.05), although there is no statistical significance, It is confirmed that two curative effect standard are simlar statistically with each other (P＞0.05).Conclutions: Electroacupuncture has positive effects on post-stroke depression, and can greatly improve the quality of life by changing psychology. TCM Rating Scale is possible to be used in the evaluating of depression in TCM.
