Influence Of Electroacupuncture And Ear Acupoint On Depression Symptom And Quality Of Life In Patients With Post-stroke Depression

Including some psychiatric and somatic symptoms,post stroke depression(PSD) refers to emotional disorders occurring after stroke.The main symptoms of PSD are continuous depression,slow thinking,reduced interests,sleep disorder and so on.Recently,in some reports about pathogenesis,diagnosis and treatment of PSD,it is said that anti-depressive medicine may lead to allergy and abstinence syndrome,while therapeutic methods of Chinese Medicine which has little side effct become more and more important in clinical study.So enhancement of the research on PSD becomes important and realistic significance in finding a new therapeutic method,which is secure,easy-operated and curative.Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of post-stroke depression after ear acupoint with electroacupuncture therapy.Methods:60 PSD patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.In treatment group,ear acupoint with electroacupuncture with dredging governer vessels and regulating mind theropeutic method was applicable to the 31 patients.Shenmen heart liver spleen and brain are selected as ear acupoints.Baihui shenting and Shenben are selected as the main electroacupuncture points,with modification according to syndrome differentiation.For example,we choose taichong to treat patients of liver-qi stagnant type,and select gongsun to treat patients of defitiency of heart and spleen type.Sparse and density wave can be used in electroacupuncture,using sparse wave with frequency 5Hz and density wave with frequency 50Hz for 30 minites.In control group,30 patients received baisic treatment with basic acupuncture and points and electroacupuncture the same with the treatment group.All patients got basic treatment including anti-hypertension,anti-diabetics and so on.Patiens were evaluated by HAMD,TCM Rating Scale and Rhone-Poulenc sleep score before treatment,6 weeks after treatment so as to investigate the clinical efficacy.Results:Self comparision:in treatment group,significant change accure after 6 weeks,according to before treatment,in HAMD,TCM Rating Scale,and Rhone-Poulenc sleep score after 6 treatment,which has statistical significance(P＜0.05 ).2 group comparision:there is significant difference between 2 groups in HAMD,TCM Rating Scale,and Rhone-Poulenc sleep score,which has statistical significance(P＜0.05) after treatment.There are more positive effects on PSD patients in treatment group,according to control group,either evaluated by HAMD,TCM Rating Scale orRhone-Poulenc sleep score,which has statistical significance(P＜0.05),which is simlar with each other(P＞0.05).Conclutions:Ear acupoit with electroacupuncture has positive effects on post-stroke depression,and can greatly improve the depressive condition,which has significant difference stastically compared with the control group.
