Background Post-Traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) differentiates itself from other mental diseases by a traumatic exposure-dependent initiation,is characterized by high incidence,chronic progress,and poor response to treatments.Consequently,PTSD exerts negative effects on trauma rescue and treatment,and is the focus of medical attention.In recent years,increasing studies on PTSD were emerged with obvious progresses.However,previous works were mainly focused on people who have survived war,earthquake,flood and other disasters,few studies on PTSD were conducted in special populations,especially in medical personnel.As a special population,medical personnel are physically constantly exposed to the uncertain risks,as well as mentally isolated from families and friends during cruising,and thus are one of the most probable candidates for high risk populations of PTSD.Objectives To determine the incidence of PTSD and study related affecting variables in a medical personnel population,propose preventions and suggestions,provide theoretical basis for pertinent psychological interventions.Subjects and Methods 84 medical personnel from Dalian Jinzhou during April to June in 2005 were enrolled into study,including 46 doctors,and 38 nurses.All the subjects aged from 27 to 53 years old.The questionnaires and assessment tools used in this study include, basic profiles questionnaire,The PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL-C),Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI),Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) for Self-reporting Inventory,Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS) ,and Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ).Data were...
