Study On The Prevalent Characteristic Of AIDS And HIV Infection Among The Paid Donors In A City Of Henan

Objective Since AIDS was found first in America in 1981, it had spread rapidly all over the world and threatened the health of the people. Now, the AIDS epidemic situation lies in 199 countries, it has became a worldwide health problem and all the countries has paid highly attention to it. By 2004, there were 700 millions HIV infectors in the world and 200 millions people died because of AIDS. The death number is the third following Smallpox and the rat pestilence. AIDS had impacted on some aspects, such as society, economy, public, civilization, ethic and so on. In 1986, AIDS was found first in China, its epidemic went through three epochs: introduction, pervasion and the increased quickly. Since 1995, the AIDS epidemic situation increased at the rate of 30 percent by year and diffused from the high danger people to the common people. The number of HIV infectors rose distinctly in China during the 20 years, HIV infectors were found in the 31 provinces and municipalities. By 2004, there were 89067 HIV infectors in China and 5024 people died because of AIDS. The number of Yunnan province is the most, next is Henan and Xinjiang where the number has exceed one thousand. The experts forecast if we do not adopt the effective preventive measure, the number of HIV infectors will exceed 100 millions by 2010. Although the people did not find the efficiency therapy and the bacterin to AIDS, we has known about the route and the rules of transmission, we can prevent AIDS by transferring some behaviors. HIV cantransmit by three routes: sex contact transmission^ the blood transmission and perinatal infection. The blood transmission is the main reason of HIV prevalence in the central rural areas in China. So, the author did the two aspects work: one side, posting the prevalent characteristic of AIDS in a city of Henan during 20 year;the other side, studying on the HIV infection among the paid donors in a city of Henan. Methods (1) Surveillance of disease: we checked mainly three kinds of people: the high danger peoples the keystone people and the common people. At the same time we collected the relate data of the above people. (2) Cross-sectional study: HIV infection situation among the paid blood donors during 1990-1997 was investigated. According to "the HIV patients questionnaire", the trained specialists made an epidemiological survey on the HIV patients and conducted a questionnaire. Results (1) The result of Surveillance (D The trend of time: AIDS epidemic submits the rise trend year by year. By 2004, 1041 HIV infectors were found in the city of Henan, in which there are 422 AIDS patients and 111 persons has died. The rate of HIV positive in a city is 4.14/10000. AIDS epidemic went through three epochs: introductions pervasion and the increased quickly. (2) The characteristic in the area: 1041 HIV infectors all belong to the resident in this city, who reside in the different county. The most infectors lie in county 3 and take up 79.15%. (3)The characteristic in the people-, in 1041 HIV infectors, the ratio between male and female is 1.10: 1;The most infectors aged is 30-59 year (take up 91.16%), peasants take up 94.81%, the infectors in double harness take up 78.29%, the culture degree of most infectors is low. ? The route of transmission: 1041 HIV infectors infect HIV by one main route: to pick the blood plasma. This route takes up 87.23%, Nest is opposite sex contact transmission taking up 6.24%, the blood transfusion transmission take up 2.88%, injecting transfusion transmission take up 0.19%.(2)the result of HIV infection among the paid donors. ? The result of census: in the investigated 2517100 persons, there are 19005 paid donors, the ratio between male and female is 1: 1.66, the paid donors in double harness take up 97.71% The most paid donors lie in county 3 and take up 78.35%. (D The situation of HIV infectionamong the paid donors: in the checked 17478 paid donors, there are 875 HIV positive persons. The positive rate of paid donors is 5.01%;The positive rate of paid donors in different area, sex, age and marriage is statistically significant (P<0.05), the positive rate of paid donors in different occupation and the culture degree is not statistically significant (P>0.05) . (§) The risk factors HIV infection among the paid donors: in order to the result of logistic regression analysis, the risk factors HIV infection among the paid donors lie in locus, marriage, the type of picking blood and the degree of picking blood plasma.Conclusions (1) AIDS epidemic submits the rise trend year by year in the city;The most infectors lie in county 3 and take up 79.15%;The most infectors aged is 30-59 year (take up 91.16%), peasants take up 94.81%, the infectors in double harness take up 78.29%, the culture degree of most infectors is low.
