Objective : Summarize the clinical otorhinolaryngological manifestations and treatment of HIV/AIDS infected patients, in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.Methods: Analyze the clinical material of the 22 HIV positive cases in the first affiliated hospital of Guangxi Medical University from 2005 to June, 2007Results: the clinical otorhinolaryngological manifestation of the 22 patients are: 9 cases (40%) of tumor in head and neck, 7 cases (32%) of oral and faucial candidiasis, 3 cases (14%) of chronic suppurative tympanitis, 3 cases (14%) of other manifestations (2 with nosebleed, 1 with auditive herpes zoster). 4 of the patients (18%) are infected with hepatitis type C. Among the 9 tumor cases, one has bundle in upper, middle and bottom part of both sides of the neck, one has bundle in upper and middle part of both sides of the neck, 6 have bundle in the occipital triangle, one has bundle in chin triangle; of them 8 cases with a texture in the middle, and one with a hard texture; 8 cases with clear boundaries, and one without; 2 cases feel pain while the bundle is pressed, 2 don't; according to the examination of the two bundle cases in neck, one case is non-Hodgkin lymphoma, the other is lymph B cell reactive hyperplasia, the others are inflammation; according to B-ultrasonic: the largest bundle is of the size 3.1×2.1×1.9cm, there are at most 4-5 intumescent lymph node, there is clear boundary between the bundle and parotid. In the 7 cases of oral and faucial candidiasis, white velum can be found in soft palate, palatine arches, tongue, and sides of tongue. The white velum was checked to be white candidiasis. Of the two cases of one side chronic suppurative tympanitis, reduplicate purulence in external auditory meatus and declining listening ability was determined. 4 patients died during the visit done 4—20 months after the treatment. The analytic laboratory examinational result of these group is: 8 cases have lightly anaemia, among them 2 are of a small cell type of anaemia, and the other 6 are of a positive cell type. According to the examination of liver function: ALT and AST rise. There are 4 patients with infection from other virus in this group. After 4-20 months treatment, 3 patients lost contact, 4 died.Conclusions: 1. the the clinical otorhinolaryngological manifestations of HIV/AIDS patients will appear in an early stage, and are commonly seen. Among them Lymphadenopathy in the neck, oral and faucial candidiasis infection and chronic suppurative tympanitis are most commonly determined, especially Lymphadenopathy in the neck. The area of Lymphadenopathy in the neck is the postneck triangle. The infection areas of oral and faucial candidiasis are: soft palate, palatine arches, tongue, and sides of tongue.2. Infection of other virus can also accompany HIV/AIDS patients, for example hepatitis type C.
