The channel depth is the key factor to the traffic capacity of channel, posting message accurately and timely will get so many benefits as following:cargo distribution is more reasonable, ships can sail more safely and have more economic benefits. In order to grasp the information of navigable channel depth, we introduce the concept of Real Time Supervise System from navigable channel depth. The Real-Time Supervise System of Channel Depth consists of a supervision center and several supervision points. Each supervision point is equipped with echo sounder and Automatic Identification System(AIS). The depth information of supervision center is collected in the fixed time by the echo sounders which are as sensors to measure the channel depth, and the information is delivered to AIS, then it is transmitted to supervision center. The supervision center consists of AIS, PC and relevant electronic chart software. From checking water depth of supervision points to the visual display in supervision centers, the whole process must be finished automatically so that it can perform the function of real-time supervise system of channel depth real-time and effectively.The water depth data from echo sounder should be collected in supervision points, the water depth data is launched out by AIS after coding. The author use VB incidental MScomm controls with serial communication function, using asynchronous serial transmission mode of echo sounder, collect the data from echo sounder to computers. The water depth data is collected and launched out by AIS after coding in supervision points, the supervision center receives the water depth data and location information from supervision points. For the received information of AIS, it is need to decode by the application program of the supervision center, and then we can get the water depth data and location parameter from the supervision points. After getting the water depth and location data information by AIS decoding in supervision center, it is need to develop electronic chart application program to make the information displayed in electronic chart visually. There are many developing softwares of electronic chart, we use the MapX ActiveX controlling product from MapInfo company which has the powerful function of map analysis. MapX provides various tools, attributes and methods, which can realize the function of displaying water depth information from supervision points easily.The Real-Time Supervise System of Channel Depth is a system which combines the water depth data from echo sounder and the communication function of AIS to realize real-time supervision the water depth of channel, the system can be used to measure the water depth data of every supervision point, if we store the variable data, we can also analyze the changes of channel depth, which is an extension of AIS application. The composition, working principle and realization methods from system is feasible by theoretical analysis and experimental verification.
