The Design And Implementation Of Electronic Chart Navigation System Based On AIS

In recent years, with the rapid development of communications and computer technology, electronic chart technology began to rise in the eighties and nineties of the last century.Electronic chart system is not only a electronic chart display system based on computer,but also a navigational system providing navigation information and auxiliary functions for mariners.Automatic Identification System (AIS) is a kind of ship navigation equipment based on VHF communication.It achieves continuous and reliable communications between ships across the waters,and enhances the ability to vessel collision between ships. Designed a electronic chart system based on AIS and achieved the combination of AIS technology and electronic chart technology is important to enhance the security of the navigation field.This paper focuses on the basic concept and the hierarchical model of AIS technology,analyze AIS message packet types and design AIS messages packet decoded process based on the IEC61162standard. It also focus on the S-57international standard electronic chart data model and data structures, and design a integral algorithm process of S-57electronic chart data parsing and format converting.Finally, It also analyzes and describes the communication protocol of the self-organized time division multiple access technology (SOTDMA). Based on the research of electronic chart technology and ship automatic identification systems (AIS) technology,This article has designed and implemented a electronic chart navigation system based on AIS technology and S-57electronic chart. The system consists of the electronic chart navigation part and the AIS part.The hardware part of electronic chart is an embedded computer.lt mainiy realized some functional modules included the Chart Display,Navigation Work,Chart information Query and relevant route algorithm design.It not only can display the navigation routes and dangerous areas dynamically, and automaticiy monitor ship navigation,but also can display the position of ship and the ship sailing track in real time.AIS automatic identification system achieves AIS message reception and resolution.It also realizes the Assembly and launch.The system completes internal data exchange of IEC61162,finishes the display of AIS packets on the electronic chart and achieves the integration of the AIS technology and electronic chart technology.The system achieves the basic navigation functions overall and complete the combination of AIS technology and electronic chart technology. It can not only achieve chart visualization capabilities of the general ECDIS, but also obtain the location information of other ships through the AIS technology, graphically display the information of other ships on the electronic chart, realize the ship navigation effectively, maximize the navigation function of the electronic chart navigation system, and greatly improve the work efficiency of the mariners and marine security.
