The requirement of research on digital depth sounder was put forward in this paper.The development of automative measuring equipment in navigation has also been introduced.The theory background of the digital depth sounder was discussed on the base of technique requirement.First, the component of digital depth sounder was introduced and the key algorithm of the digital depth sounder was discussed in detail; Second,the suitable hardware was chose and the system scheme was designed,Then,the component and work process of the system were introduced,the design of LCD controller and the process methods of interface were illustrated in detail;Third,the main program was designed and the process of ADC data,NMEA0183 data,history information were discussed in detail. The real-time characteristic of two aspects of the system were analyzed: system scheme and program design.The main problem of real-time characteristic is display of the depth-line in real time.At last, three algorithms of depth sounder were simulated and analysed:echo area algorithm,range gate algorithm,repeated echo algorithm,and the final algorithms were chose acorrding to their advantages.Not spencial LCD Controller but traditional DSP.and FPGA were used to design the digital system of depth sounder in this paper.
