A Study On The Development Of Xiantao City Planning And Construction

Xiantao is located in the south of han river which is one of the fastest growing county-level city in Jianghan plain. From the perspective of city planning, the paper put great emphasis on the study of Xiantao historical vicissitude and the development of Xiantao city planning and construction. The paper analyzes the feature of Xiantao city planning and construction, the opportunities which Wuhan city circle brings to it and the signification of XianTianQian city cluster. Through the research of other interrelated cities, this paper proposes a pattern "riverfront→riverside→river-span" which shows the process of city development along the river. The paper also indicates the trend of city development along the river and the direction of Xiantao's development.The paper's structure consists of three parts, it is Xiantao's "yesterday", "today" and "tomorrow". The first part (the second chapter) introduces the city formation and the geography characteristics of Xiantao and analyzes the causes of Xiantao historical vicissitude in two sides. In one side is the influence from the higher level city and in the other side is the relationship between city planning and river. At last, the chapter summarizes the development mode of cities along the river from riverfront to riverside. It is Xiantao's "yesterday". The second part (the third and fourth chapters) analyzes and summarizes the development of Xiantao city planning and construction since 1952. Based on its own character and the change of Chinese politics, economy and society, the paper defines the historical phases of Xiantao city planning and construction, reviews the course and content of each phases. Through the investigation of content above, the paper analyzes and summarizes the feature of Xiantao city planning and construction, discusses the city layout, spatial structure, industry feature and city culture. It is Xiantao's "today". Based on the two parts above the third part (the fifth and sixth chapter) expects Xiantao's development in Wuhan city circle, analyzes the signification of XianTianQian city cluster and proposes the future direction of Xiantao——river-span development. It is Xiantao's "tomorrow".Though the analysis and discuss above the paper (the seventh chapter) summarizes the whole process "riverfront→riverside→river-span" of cities along the river and points out that a good development of city planning lies on the consistency of administrative division area and city planning area.
