Study On Traffic Space Planning And Design Of Water City In The South Of Yangtze River Aimed At Water City Image

The traffic space of the historical city in the south of Yangtze River plays an importantrole in the process of shaping water city image: the interdependence between traffic spaceand urban water-network is a significant factor in the formation of water city feature.However, nowadays, along with rapid urbanization, various waterside cities in the south ofYangtze River face the risk of gradually faded water city image, the progressive decline ofclose relationship in traffic space and hydrographic net being one important reason for thisphenomenon. Therefore, by means of exploring and seeking traffic space planning anddesign strategies, the purpose of this paper is to reshape water city image.This paper contains six parts. The introduction part illustrates the background of thetopic, the significance of the study, defines the research objects and regions, specifies theresearch methods and the main content of the thesis and generalizes the related researchand practice. Coupled with the change of water city image in the south of Yangtze River,Chapter II draws the corresponding conclusion of the relationship in traffic space and watercity image by making a comparison between the traditional and the current characteristicsof traffic space. Chapter III takes image composition as the way and the image elements asthe clue respectively, to profoundly reconstruct the traffic space planning and designthinking. Based on the above ideas, Chapter IV respectively proposes concrete traffic spaceplanning and design strategies which are aimed at reshaping water city image from the fourperspectives of water traffic, slow traffic, comprehensive traffic and traffic node space,then profoundly analysis specific purpose and principle, planning issues and design issuesabout each strategy. Chapter V takes Suzhou as the case to carry out the case study, combstraffic space evolution of Suzhou and summarizes its characteristics in traditional Suzhou,analyses the current situation of Suzhou traffic space and is targeted to propose Suzhoutraffic planning and design. The conclusion part summarizes the main conclusions andinsufficiency of this paper and visions the future direction of further study.
