Research On The Pedestrian System Of Contemporary Railway Station Core Area

The Core area of modern railway station, which function is based on railway transportation, has become a key element for integrating the transportation and Urbana's function. This area is a transport node and, at the same time, a urban place as well. For comparing with traditional railway station which was located separate from the urban area, the modern railway station should have the ability to create a coordinated development situation for the urban area because of huge amount of investment.In this urban area, the construction of pedestrian system becomes an important element to enhance the function of transportation hub and perfect the function of the urban area. The integration and activation of region and city is based on human's different activities, meanwhile, the pedestrian system will be the basic vector for human's activities. Therefore, to be the core part of the entire pedestrian system, the construction design of the pedestrian system in the region of the modern railway station becomes the most important issue. The pedestrian system not only can provide services to travelers and the people who live around this area, but also can attract more people come to the railway station area for promote the development of this area. Under this circumstance, the modern railway station can prove its tremendous contribution to the urban area, at the same time, the huge investment in the railway station can have a better rate of complex return.This dissertation researches on the pedestrian system in the core area of modern railway station by the methods of literature review, investigation research, and comparison research. The background of pedestrian system construction is analyzed on the basis of current domestic railway station development research, domestic and oversea literature review, and research on the user of the railway station.Base on the research of Shanghai Railway Station Southern and combined with other cases, this dissertation systematically researches the core pedestrian system in the region of modern railway station. The research combined the basic study of dissertation in order to find out the main realistic problem of the construction of pedestrian system in the core area of the railway station, to present that the current pedestrian system needs to improved starts from the theoretic level for providing some suggestions for the future urban plan.Last but not least, this dissertation points out the further research area according to the current situation on the research of the pedestrian system in the core region of the modern railway station. The researcher expects the construction design of the pedestrian system in the core region of railway station will have a ripe theory and basis on real cases to lead the future design and plan for making the pedestrian system in the core region of railway station more perfection and humanization.
