Research On Planning And Design Of Waterfront Scenic Byways

As a member of scenic byways system, waterfront scenic byways play an important role in the development of economics, society, ecology and tourism. There has been many studies of different types of scenic byways abroad, and a sound scenic byways system has been established. In contrast, the development of scenic byways of our country is currently at an early stage. There is no special study of waterfront scenic byways so far in our country. The territory of China is vast. There are also many rivers and lakes, and the coastline is long. So the development of waterfront scenic byways has great potential and broad prospects. This paper aims to explore the specific methods of planning and design of waterfront scenic byways in China by means of theoretical analysis, case studies and empirical research. And this paper also tries to provide useful information for constructing waterfront scenic byways in our country.The theoretical and practical research of waterfront scenic byways fills the domestic study gap in this area; our country's development of waterfront scenic byways can draw lessons from the systematic organize, summarize and promotion of planning and design of American waterfront scenic byways; on the amendment of foreign experience in the basis of Chinese national conditions, we can quest the planning and design theory and methods of Chinese waterfront scenic byways.Using documentary analysis, this paper firstly summarizes the relevant information, and comes to the planning and design research status of waterfront scenic byways and waterfront areas both at home and abroad. And the paper also creates the planning and design theoretical framework of waterfront scenic byways through the relevant theoretical research.Secondly, through the case studies of foreign waterfront scenic byways planning and design, this paper overall and systematically summarizes the planning and design principles, process, contents and methods of waterfront scenic byways, and draws useful lessons for domestic planning and design.Thirdly, the paper chooses Yellow River & Great Wall Scenic Byway in Inner Mongolia as the case of empirical research. At the basis of foreign experience and specific circumstances of Inner Mongolia Zhungeer areas, the auther plans and designs Chinese first waterfront scenic byway.Finally, conclusion of this paper is given, and the author points out the research gaps and aspects for improvement.
