Chendu ranks among the most famous historyic cities promulgated by the State Council of China with a long history of 2300 years in 1984. The protection of historic quarters is the most important task to the protection of the historical cities .This has been universally accepted by the professors who studied historic protection.But now, with the rapid development of economy and urbanization, how to conserve and utilize the historic quarters , how to protect the city's historic characters become more and more urgent.Dacisi has been first built in tang dynasty , the histotic quarters around it began to take shape at the erly 20th. Dacisi historic quarters is the typical example that reflects the urban life factually in the past time of Chengdu.As the increasing speed of construction of downtown and the improvement of environment of chunxi —hongxing negotiate, the conserveation and utilization of the Dacisi historic quarters witch is besides the negotiate become more and more urgent. How to revitalize the historyic quarters based on the development of urban economy is the key that author try to seek for. Following the methods of doing investigation, using analyses, giving solutions and taking the professional theory and design methods for the existing problems, the author has gathered problems existing of of Dacisi historic quarters, proposed some suggestions for its protection and utilization and explored some new directions beneficially for protection and utilization of historic quarters in Chengdu.This thesis could be divided into five chapters.
