Historic conservation areas are the concentrated exhibition areas of historical relics after the evolution of urban society. They are often located in the central area of the old city, and their road traffic conditions cannot fit in with modern cities, which seriously hinders the health and sustainable development of the city.Since the birth of the metro,it has been closely related to historical blocks. After more than a century of development, the construction of metro in the historical city has also become a major trend of urban development. The relationship between the historic conservation areas and the metro is increasingly close in cultural protection, land use function, spatial distribution, economic benefit and traffic linkage. It is urgent to realize the integration of modern society and ancient city culture to correctly recognize the relationship between them and explore the mechanism of their interaction. It is equally important to resolve the conflict between the two.Firstly, this paper reviews the current situation of related theoretical research and practical construction at home and abroad, focuses on the research of metro and historic conservation areas in Beijing, and explains the significance, object, method and technical route of this research, and confirms that the research content of this paper is unique and necessary.Secondly, the current status of the protection and renovation of Beijing’s historic conservation areas and the construction of the metro were comprehensively summarized and classified.According to the big data information, planning institute information and the actual investigation, the paper summarizes the seven core problems between the protection of historic conservation areas and the metro in Beijing The problems are analyzed by using the theories of cultural protection priority, underground and underground integration and utilization, functional coupling,multi-subject cooperation, and traditional theory transmutation and application. The problem research is based on the actual cases of 19 historic conservation areas and 26 interactive subway stations in Beijing. In this paper, the qualitative and quantitative analysis methods are used to summarize the mutual promotion and restriction between historic conservation areas and Metro under different perspectives.Based on the analysis results of all the reasons and action mechanisms mentioned above, this paper studies the strategies for the implementation of cultural, functional, spatial, traffic, economic, policy and ecological issues,so as to ensure the coordinated development of Beijing’s metro and historic conservation areas.Beijing is the city with the most significant conflict between historic conservation areas and metro in China. This paper aims to take Beijing city as a representative case, make an in-depth study of the overall development of urban history and modern metro, try to solve the contradiction and conflict between historical heritage protection and subway construction, and provide an optimization strategy for the coordinated development of urban history and subway construction in China and other countries. In order to realize the sustainable development of the city,we should not only keep the historical and cultural heritage of the city, but also solve the traffic problems of the old city.
