Since concrete faceplate rock dam has obvious virtues of economical expenditure and shorter construction period, its ratio in dams is increasing nowadays. Especially in the area of high dam construction, the amount of concrete faceplate rock dam is more than the amount of concrete gravity dam and arch dam. Pouring dam construction is the core of the whole construction of concrete faceplate rock dam, which is a complex construction system with many construction activities and complex construction surroundings , affected by many nondeterministic factors, such as hydrology, weather, terrain, geology, and so on. Therefore risk exists in every phases and sections of construction from start to finish. However, because of scarcity of risk identifying and flabbiness of risk management, there often have problems in many concrete faceplate rock dam construction. So it is necessary to carry out risk analysis and risk management in pouring dam construction to display the virtues of concrete faceplate rock dam and to construct quickly.In this paper, we apply risk analysis to the actual concrete faceplate rock dam construction in GongBoXia project. At first, we identify every risk factor which has effect on dam pouring construction; secondly, on the basis of risk identification, we adapt fault tree risk analysis measure to analyze pouring dam construction risk, including geological risk ( pouring source uncertainty ) , floodwater risk, rainfall risk, transportation risk, and so on. At last, we apply gathering project datum to presenting nondeterministic model, and utilize calculated results to describe qualitatively or quantitatively every risk factor' effects on pouring dam construction.On dam source risk, this paper presents decision trees model and applies the model to analyzing three sets of construction schemes according to different dam source amount. Calculated results show that the third scheme is the best in there schemes. In fact, the third scheme is being carried out in GongBoXia project. As identifies model practicability and reliability. On the basis of above study, we make risk treatment analysis and present concrete risk depending measures for pouring dam construction in GongBoXia project. These measures have widely applicability, and can provide reference for other concrete faceplate rock dams.
