Slope engineering is perhaps the geotechnical subject most dominated by uncertainties which are geological or not geological. The impact of uncertainty on the safety of slope is often substantial. Generally, the sole safety factor cannot deal with these uncertainties. In the course of construction operation, analyzing and assessing the risk of slope to avoiding and reducing risk is substantial.This article has presented the progress of risk analysis theory on slope engineering, analyzed and compared common risk analysis methods, expounded the theoretical framework of the core content of risk analysis and evaluation including risk assessment, vulnerability assessment of element at risk and damage assessment of slope failure, and integrated domestic and foreign research and the project practice to give the permissible criteria of slope for the construction and reinforcement of existing slope to provide scientific basis for decision-making.Based on the knowledge of probability theory, utilize mathematics, soil mechanics and other related discipline theories synthetically to calculate the risk of slope. Having established the mathematical model for calculating the risk through analyzing the uncertainties influencing the stability of slope to calculate the risk of Yan village landslide by using computer and eatimate loss of its consequences.
