Study On The Assessment And Optimization Of The Quality Of Urban Human Settlements

With the acceleration of urbanization, many residential areas in towns face with a lot of problems, such as atmospheric pollution, lack of trees, population blowing up, and so on.Search for more perfect city deve1opment pattern and form for people to dwell together,build a high efficiency,healthy and equal city society,create comfortab1e human settlements ;all of these have becoming the Project that a11 governments,international institutes and academic organizations paying more and more attention to.Under the guidance of theories such as the theory of human settlements ,the theory of sustainable development, the theory of urban ecology and the theory of ecological economics ,the dissertation sets up mathematic model and chooses a suitable index system , which is composed of 4 subsystems and 25 assessment elements , to assess the situation of the urban human settlements of Suzhou in four aspects ,including the urban settlements , urban ecological environment ,public infrastructure, development of the society , economy and culture of the city. The dissertation assesses the quality of Suzhou urban human settlements from 2002 to 2007 and the developing trend according as time sequence .The main points of the thesis are as follows.Firstly, illustrate the implications of related concepts ,the paper makes summary of related theory and demonstrates the significance of the research on the urban human settlements .After generalized and narrow poit of views of human settlements have been given ,implied meaning of humans settlements has been analyzed thoroughly from the aspect of system constitution.Some influencing factors related to quality of human settlements are discussed .Based on the introduction of the research achievements of predecessor ,academic frame of the sciences of human settlements is established.Secondly, study the construction of the sustainability index system and the method of evaluating the sustainability of the urban human settlements. According to the location characters of the researched region and the construction principles of the index system ,this part constructs the evaluating index system and determines the method. The dissertation synthetically evaluates urban human settlements quality of Suzhou with index system of quality assessment of human settlements and assessment mode .And compare with 4 similar cities in China for figure out the most weak link in the construction of Suzhou urban human settlements. Lastly ,the article proposes goal of urban human settlements quality optimization in Suzhou ,and put forward the corresponding objective measures of the optimization and construction of high quality human settlements.
