Environmental Carrying Capacity Study Of Songyuan

The carrying capacity of the urban environment is limited, and the development can maintain its sustainability only when the environmental impact of economic and social activities is less than the environmental carrying capacity, the study of Environmental carrying capacity is the limits of carrying capacity. The writer did the quantitative and evaluative studies based on the previous research results.This paper combing the development of environmental carrying capacity, to explain its meaning and characteristics. And attempt to introduce a new method of measuring the environmental carrying capacity. The author used GDP value(indicated the intensity and scale of human activities) directly as the characterization of the amount of the environmental carrying capacity, to made an intuitive expression exploratory, and compare with the current economic scale to derived the development situation of environmental bearing. According to the constraints of development of the industrialization process of Songyuan, the writer listed five evaluation indexes, including energy, water, COD capacity, SO2 capacity, the carrying capacity of urban sewage treatment system. Then calculated the Environmental Carrying Capacity in 2008, and analyze the environmental conditions and causes. The Environmental Carrying Capacity of Songyuan City calculated 1105 billion yuan, and the environmental carrying is in good condition, the current state is properly. The author propose a strategy for improve environmental carrying capacity of limiting factors, and the policies for the coordinated and sustainable development of environment and economy. The authors hope to provide reference for the sustainable economic and social development to Songyuan City.
