With the development of information society,data processing is becoming increasingly important,and having basic knowledge of statistics has become necessary capability for each of modern citizens.Statistics and probability were made as one of the four sections of mathematics learning and the specific contents and teaching objectives of them for each Stage were segmented in the "Full-time compulsory education mathematics curriculum standard(experimental manuscript)" promulgated by the Ministry of Education in 2001,For the question whether the status quo of statistics learning met the "standard" or not is less researched,It's necessary to research the status quo and development characteristics of statistics learning of junior school students.In this study,the levels of learning "Basic Concept of Statistics","Data Collection and Expression","Data Sorting and Processing" and "Data Analysis and Decision-making" are investigated by sampling the junior school students come from 5 middle schools in Chongqing.The research can provide reference for curriculum arrangement,teaching materials compiling and improving teaching quality.In this study,method of questionnaire survey is adopted.The status quo of statistics learning of junior school students are as follows:(1)In "Basic Concept of Statistics" learning,it's significantly different between status quo of students come from three grades and "standard" requirement in learning concept of "General", "Individual" and "Sample".And in learning conception of "Average Median" and "Mode",it's fine different for students come from grade one but significantly different for students come from other two grade.(2)In "Data Collection and Expression" learning,it's fine different between status quo of students come from three grades and "standard" requirement in learning "Histogram" but significantly different in learning "Frequency" and "Counts".And in learning "Broken Line Graph", it's significantly different for students come from grade one but fine different for students come from other two grade.(3)In "Data Sorting and Processing" learning,it's fine different between status quo of students come from grade two and three and "standard" requirement in learning "Variance" but significantly different in learning "Pie Diagram" and "Frequency Histogram".(4)In "Data Analysis and Decision-making" learning,The status quo of students come from grade three does not meet the "standard" requirements.By comparing the status quo of statistics learning of students come from three grades,In "Basic Concept of Statistics" learning,the learning levels of students come from three grades are almost same in learning concept of "General","Individual" and "Sample".And the learning level of learning "Average Median" and "Mode" is rising.In "Data Collection and Expression" learning, the learning levels of learning "Frequency","Counts" and "Histogram" are fine different.And the level of "Broken Line Graph" is rising.In "Data Sorting and Processing" learning,the learning levels of students come from grade two and grade three are almost same in learning "Variance","Pie Diagram" and "Frequency Histogram".By the conclusion above,for the "standard" requirements for statistics are high,it's necessary to reduce them.And for the particularity of statistics,teachers may help students to understand statistics well by giving examples and multi-media teaching methods.
