As rapid development of computer science and IT technology, exploring to utilize multimedia computer to aid teaching has become a trend in current education reform. In the Mathematics Course Standard of Full Time Compulsory Education promulgated in 2001, application of multimedia in mathematics teaching in junior high school is a definite requirement. However, due to many reasons, there are lots of defects existing in the practical application of multimedia in mathematics teaching in junior high school. In this paper, based on theories of behaviorism, procedural teaching and constructivism, studies are conducted in ways of literature and material method, case method and experiment method. According to requirement of Mathematics Course Standard, and through concrete cases, designs in three aspects are put forward when applying multimedia in mathematics teaching in junior high school, i.e. multimedia-applying design that enables full development of students emotion and attitude; multimedia-applying design that enables students grasping necessary basic knowledge and skills; multimedia-applying design that enables development of students ability. Multimedia is utilized as "a chain between strengthening stimulation and reaction" in behaviorism learning. Through elaborate design, learning contents are divided into many logic units in small step, and students are stimulated with characters, graphics and sounds of multimedia, which make multimedia an effective platform for realizing "stimulation-reaction-strengthening" requirement in procedural teaching; create problem situation with multimedia can reasonably utilize information resources, fully motivate students enthusiasm, help students establish confidence, explore learning contents, change students passively receiving knowledge into actively constructing knowledge, and change teachers simply teaching knowledge into helping construct knowledge so as to meet the general objective requirements in three aspects of emotion and attitude, basic knowledge and skills, and abilities that are raised in Mathematics Course Standard for junior high school students.
