Modern information technology, represented by computers and the Internet, has been changing the lifestyle and learning style of contemporary people at an alarming rate. Therefore it is urgent for modern people to change their previous educational approaches and means to adapt to the personnel requirements of modern society. Modern information technology not only has been widely applied to various areas of the society, but also has a profound impact on education circle such as curriculum content, teaching methods and so on.In the new learning environment, the integration of mathematics teaching and information technology is important for deepening the reform of mathematics teaching, improving teaching efficiency and enhancing the students’overall quality and capacity. The application of modern information technology to mathematics teaching changes the traditional educational technology and integrates modern educational concepts into mathematics teaching. In modern society, driven by the new curriculum reform in China, the process of mathematics teaching is always permeated with modern information technology. All things are difficult to start. We can not be too strict to require the schools, teachers and students to adapt to modern information technology in a very short time. Instead, we should constantly make improvements under the guidance of the new curriculum reform theory and accumulate teaching experience, so as to enhance students’interest in mathematics and improve their mathematical competence, develop students’ awareness of innovation and problem-solving abilities. This paper draws on a large number of documents and statistics to systematically study several real middle school mathematics teaching classes applying modern information technology. Then, after comparing the after-class teaching effectiveness based on statistics, the paper sums up the factors that affect the teaching effect and the corresponding improvement approaches. Using a variety of educational software in a multimedia environment to appropriately guide the students to learn mathematical in real life and master the problem-solving approach is the ultimate goal of our study. Through practicing and observing the multimedia courseware, the teachers can enhance the students’ interest in mathematics, and help them to apply the theoretical knowledge into practice. For example, a middle school math teacher can use PPT and related real life pictures and examples to vividly demonstrate the reasoning process of some theoretical knowledge. Besides, he can also use geometer’s sketchpad to display the images of function graphics and the painting process and deformation of geometry. Through the use of modern information technology, a variety of educational courseware can be made to give students a different perspective to show mathematics in the life, thus gradually changing our traditional ideas and models of mathematics education.Modern information technology needs to be integrated according to the characteristics of middle school mathematics in order to make the mathematics classrooms various, figurative, vivid, and visually impressive, so as to visualize the formation and development process of the mathematical concepts, and enable students to remember and apply to practice, and ultimately achieve the goal of mathematics education. The present research studies the integration of modern information technology into middle school mathematics teaching from the following parts, including testing the classroom teaching effectiveness, identifying problems, proposing an improved method to guide teaching practice:1. The paper describes the status quo of the integration of information technology to mathematics teaching, and introduces the necessity of combing modern information technology and curriculum in the21st century.2. It illustrates the importance of integration of middle school mathematics and information technology courses, which can enhance the students’interest in learning mathematics, help them use mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems and enhance their confidence.3. It introduces the application of several modern information technologies in middle school mathematics teaching.4. It further explains the necessity and importance of integration of information technology into the middle school mathematics curriculum.
