This dissertation is a taxonomic study of the family Cixiidae(Hemiptera:Fulgoroidea) from Southwesten China. It includes the following parts:introduction, historic review, materials and methods, morphology, biology, biogeography and taxonomy. In the introduction part, the research history on Cixiidae is reviewed. In the morphology part, the taxonomic characters and terms are outlined. In the biology section, some biological habits including behaviors, hosts, damages and economic significance are summarized. In the taxonomic part,33 species of 14 genera are described,of which 1 genus and 12 species are new to science,7 genus are newly recorded from Southwesten China,3 species are newly recorded from Southwesten China and 2 species are newly recorded from China.Keys to all generic and specific taxa concerned are given. The research history of each genus is reviewed briefly. The new genus, new species and new record species/genus to Chinese fauna are listed as follows:New genus:Couvertus gen.nov..New species:Andes chsa sp.nov.,Andes magnispina sp.nov.,Andes trifurcata sp.nov.,Betacixius bispinus sp.nov.,Betacixius flagellihamatus sp.nov.,Covertus cervicornus sp.nov.,DiscophoreUus cehengensis sp.nov.,Discophorellus transispinus sp.nov.,Kuvera xianggelilaensis sp.nov.,Neocarpia bimacula sp.nov.,Neocarpia nigriveina sp.nov.,Neocarpia hamata sp.nov..New record species to China:Myndus ovatus Bll,1933,Cixius stigmaticus Germar,1818.New record genus to Southwesten China:Brixia St(?)l,1856,Discophorellus Tsaur et Hsu, 1991,Kuvera Distant,1906,Myndus St(?)l,1862,Neocarpia Tsaur et Hsu,2003,Pentastiridius Kirschbaum,1868,Reptalus Emeljanov,1971。New record species to Southwesten China:Andes marmorata(Uhler),1896,Andes noctua Fennah,1956,Reptalus basiprocessus Guo et Wang,2007.The faunal structures of the Southwesten China's Cixiidae at specific levels were examined. In conclusion,33 species of the Southwest-China's Cixiidae belong to 3 types of distribution in Zoogeographic regions in the world.Among them,29 specises are distributed in Oriental region, which make up 87.88%;3 specises in Oriental + Palaearctic region, accounting for 9.09%;1 specises in Nearctic + Palaearctic region, accounting for 3.03%.Cixiidae in Southwest-China belong to 8 types of distribution in Zoogeographic regions in China.Among them, the number of species in HuaZhong region is the most(69.70%);XiNan,HuaZhong + HuaNan and HuaBei + DongBei + HuaZhong region are the second(6.06%);HuaNan,HuaBei + HuaZhong + HuaNan,XiNan + HuaZhong + HuaNan and QingZang + XiNan + HuaZhong + HuaNan region the third (3.03).
