The Sustainable Use And Management On Endangered Wildlife Resources For Medicinal Use

Endangered species of wild fauna and flora for medicinal use is an important part of the material grounds of the development of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and also important indicators to the completeness of the ecosystem or eco-environment in which our human being lives. According to the logic of resources, culture, problems, typical cases analyzing and summaring, and at the end proposed resolving methods and specific mechanism as reference, this paper have been divided into five major parts. Firstly, the paper introduced the abundant wildlife resources and the major output and distribution areas of TCM Materials from the wild and cutivitated (captivity) within China; secondly, the culture tradtion of TCM and its currently faced dilima and potential crisis were introduced and identified; after that, the analysis on the situation between the development of TCM industry and wildlife conservation have been made. The typical cases which are sensitative in this recently years such as tiger (bone), bear (gall bladder), Musk deer, Yew and TCM in gerneral have been analyzsed, the tactics and decisions made at that time and their positve and negative effects to the future were throughly discussed in this part and the lessons need to be beared in mind were therefore summarized. In addtion to the above background information, identified problems and present working environment, the paper focused on the category of "government administration", recommended the specific resolution and mechanism. Meanwhile, with the ultimate goals of balance achieving and sustainable development realization, the general principles for sustainable use, measures and approachs and some specific management model on the endangered wildlife resources for medicinal use have been proposed by this paper.
