Underground pipeline is a kind of important infrastructure of modem city. It takes on some important basic work, such as information and energy transmission. Currently the great majority city adopt a traditional artificial management's method already hardly satisfy the supplying network effective demand.Because pipelines distribute underground, planar graph can not express the distribution intuitively .Through figure map only, we can't realize spatial disposal of underground pipeline up and down. It's very inconvenient for us to process construction and maintain pipeline. So we use 3D visualization techniques to resolve the problem.Based on the visual function of GIS and supported by landform,it can achieve the visual and dynamic simulation.Correct analysis and finding out about systematic running situation in an all-round way ,it can not merely improve the efficiency ,quality and level of management of pipe network.And also provide scientific basis and technical support for renovation and extension,running,maintenance,management of pipe network for the city in the future.This paper are supported by a projects,According to the study process on GIS and the visualization of pipe network domestic and international,and using the ArcGIS,it analyzes the problems in the city network management,and studies the 3D visualization of city network.The underground pipeline network data pretreatment and the database design are the premise and foundation of building up the underground pipeline network data pretreatment first. Studying and analyzing the data structure of pipeline network,organizing pipeline data by the utilization of network model of ArcGIS Geodatabase and storing the graphic and attribute information as a whole.The interface is designed by C#.Based on that,tlle main function of management comes true,including:editing,searching,statistic,visual analyses and report forms.In the end,the author sums up the main work of the thesis and puts forward the work need to do in the future.
