| The traditional Desktop GIS is compared with Web GIS, It has some shortcomings. It limits the number of GIS visitors because most of the resources and information are focused on the local computer. So the resources are not shared and allocated effiently, The resources and information are caused a waste to some extent. Web GIS support an unlimited number of clients to access the system via the Internet anywhere and anytime, the spatial data is allocated and shared effiently. New areas of geographic information resource use are opened up by Web GIS, social GIS information shared hightly get also possible. Various existing geospatial data is integrated with Web GIS technology, an intuitive and efficient way is provided to the public, graphics associated information services platform is provided through an open browser-based electronic map. Based on ArcGIS Server systems and. NET platform, Web GIS services are studied as follows:①How services are published and manageed by Manager tools and ArcCatalog is outlined. Web GIS services are created in several ways particularly they are created through the Web ADF controls.②It is researched for AJAX technology characteristics and its technology support. The development of Web GIS application instance with AJAX is displayed, too.③It is researched for Web Services technology and theory as well as the creation methods of GIS Web Services and so on.④It is researched to zoom in, zoom out, move and full extent map layers by costom tools. It is queryed for point query, rectangle query, polygon query for map layers to get the properties as well as to get map layer information by properties.⑤It is researched for the relationship of data sources, resources and function objects.How the data sources are used through common API and specific API and it is operated for resources and function objects.⑥It is discussed that How the Custom data sources which include XML data sources and remote sensing data sources mainly are used through data sources interfaces.⑦It is researched for the methods and theories to operate graphics at three different levels which include client-tier, Web-tier and Server-tier and then it is experimented for render, thematic map and analysis of buffer. ⑧It is researched to package custom task to a class library, so it is implemented for the task in Web GIS.⑨It is discussed for the methods to expand GIS server through the application of COM objects and custom server objects.
