Background and subjectsCoronary heart disease(CHD)is a heart disease caused by atherosclerotic lesions in the coronary arteries of the heart.Its prevalence rate is high,and it is a common fatal disease in the elderly population especially.At present,there are relatively consensual guidelines and international consensus for the treatment of CHD in the hospital.However,unified standards for long-term rehabilitation outside the hospital is deficient.Although clinicians may provide patients with non-drug treatment guidance before discharging the patients with CHD,the out-of-hospital recovery from this disease is not satisfactory due to the lack of standardized management of patients' improper spontaneous behaviors or unprofessional external care strategies during out-of-hospital rehabilitation.With the progressive acceleration of the aging process in China,the problem of health management outside the hospital for patients with chronic non-infectious diseases is particularly obvious with time going by.Although some scholars have already come up with the idea of "to combine medical treatment with nursing care" as more efficient management for the senior citizens with chronic non-infectious diseases,currently,there is no standardized platform that has the ability of combining medical therapy with nursing care in China that could provide all-rounded professional management strategies for the recovery of elderly patients with chronic diseases.Therefore,this study designed and constructed an electronic platform combining medical treatment with nursing care and observed its efficiency of application to the elderly patients with CHD living in a nursing home,providing an accessible example for the medicine-nursing combination management for the senior citizens with chronic diseases outside hospitals,particularly,with CHD.Methods and processes1.To design and construct a medicine-nursing combination platform for the treatment of chronic coronary atherosclerotic heart disease;2.To recruit elderly volunteers(aged 65 years old and over)with coronary heart disease in a nursing home in Guangzhou,and collected a total of 200 people according to the established admission criteria;3.To divide the enrolled volunteers randomly into the experimental group and the control group,with 100 people in each group.The control group was managed by the original routine of the home,while the experimental group was managed by the medicine-nursing combination platform mentioned above,based on the original management;4.To test several biomarkers of the volunteers before and after the management duration of six months,mainly including CHD risk factors data such as weight,body mass index(BMI),systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,fasting blood glucose(FBG),serum total cholesterol(T-CHOL),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),total triglyceride(TG)and General Well-being schedule(GWB)score.SPSS 19.0 statistical software was applied to conduct the statistic result.ResultsIn this study,an intelligent medicine-nursing combination platform was developed and applied to the elderly patients with CHD in a nursing home.Before and after the trial,the risk factors of CHD such as weight,BMI,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,FBG,HbAlc,T-CHOL,TG and LDL-C in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group,with extremely statistically significant differences(P<0.01).In the meanwhile,HDL-C and GWB scores were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).ConclusionsThrough statistical analysis,this study compared the changes in several coronary heart disease risk factors and life quality of the elderly with coronary heart disease before and after our trial.It could be concluded that the intelligent medicine-nursing combination platform this trial built can significantly decrease the value of weight,BMI,T-CHOL,TG,LDL-C,at the same time increase the value of HDL-C and GWB scores.As a conclusion,the intelligent medicine-nursing combination platform can significantly reduce the risk factors of the elderly patients with coronary heart disease,improve the life happiness degree of the patients,and so to show significantly practical value in the management of coronary heart disease.This platform has a promising future in the application to the elderly patients with chronic non-infectious diseases.
