The improvement of medical science has led to two opposite results: on one hand, the mankind has discovered the secrets of life and captured increasing quantity of posers in illness and diseases; on the other hand, however, the medical science has diverged far away from the essence of humanity because of science and technology. In 1970's scientists of western countries began to realize the nature of medical science again. Courses on humanities were added into a number of medical colleges'teaching programs. In China the problems of humanistic medicine came into public focus in 1990's, when teachers in medical colleges or universities taught courses of medical psychology, medical ethics and medical law etc. to medical students to cultivate the spirit of humanism. This work did much significance in medical education. In the past, people in China have developed the custom of keeping blind on humanity, which resulted in scientists'not spending much time to do such research. Therefore, nowadays medical students only pay attention to the illness and neglect the disease and patients. Doctors have become robots. They can only use tools and drugs, and they almost forget that their mission is not only illness but also patients. This notion has resulted in many problems. For example, the conflict between doctors and patients has become increasingly severe; doctors find no happiness out of work. Countless facts have proven that it is very necessary to promote doctors'spirit of humanism, and train them to be qualified ones with No-medical Professional Skills. With the development of society, the general practitioners (GPs) have become the main providers of basic health services. Their responsibility requires them to master the No-medical Professional Skills. For this reason, it is important to drill them during the period of standardized training. After GPs'mastering the skills, they will be able to build harmonious relationship with patients, and patients will also trust them. And finally, the whole society would benefit from the promotion of basic health service quality.Based on a definite explanation of basic concepts and theory related to the topic, this paper firstly expounds the necessity and feasibility of training GPs with No-medical Professional Skills. Then according to practices of Chongqing Medical University and other countries'experiences, this paper plans and elaborates the system of training GPs with No-medical Professional Sills in the course of standardized training. Finally the research shows that it is significant to have GPs trained and the humanistic medicine training should be adopted into the teaching programs of GPs.The first part interprets the basic concepts and theory of the No-medical Professional Skills. The paper introduces the concepts of humanism, humanistic medicine, medical humanism and the differences among them. Then it elaborates the concept and component parts of the No-medical Professional Skills. Among these skills, the core value is communication skill between doctors and patients. The paper also puts forward three scientific bases for the training: policy and law, philosophy theory, and pedagogy theory. The second part expounds the necessity and feasibility of the No-medical Professional Skills training on GPs. The necessity is embodied from three aspects: firstly, the characteristic of GPs requires them to use the skills; secondly, the shortcoming of higher medical education should be made up by the skills training; thirdly, the situation of doctors'ignoring humanistic medicine education has caused harmful social consequences. The feasibility consists of the following aspects: the system of examination on doctors'morality has been established; the advanced experiences of western countries may be made use of.The third part introduces the practice of training GPs with No-medical professional skills in Chongqing Medical University. Through analyzing the students'achievements by SEGUE framework, this paper illustrates that it is effective to train GPs these skills. The fourth part plans and elaborates the system of training GPs with No-medical Professional Sills in the course of standardized training. It includes the training target, basic principles, courses and teaching methods, check methods and teaching materials etc. This part presents the major new idea of this research.
