Objective By investigating the general practitioner training and retraining status from primary health care institutions in ZMC. This paper aims to find out the factors which will influence the training, and the problems which exist in training, so as to well meet the needs for training and to develop countermeasures so as solve the problems. Methods By using questionnaire, brainstorming combined with group interviews to survey the status of trainees who participate in general practitioner training and retraining learning organized by the affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College in year 2013 and 2014. Excel 2010 software and SPSS 16.0 statistical software were applied in data entry and statistical analysis. Result There were 55 students participated in general practitioner training and retraining training in year 2013, 55 questionnaires of which 50 returned with a recovery of 90.9 %, and 42 students participated in year 2014, 42 questionnaires of which 37 returned with a recovery of 88.1%. The result of basic situation of the comparison between the 2013 year and 2014 year, didn’t show distinctive statistical difference(P > 0.05). The results of combined questionnaire survey showed: 97 trainees participated in training from Zunyi in year 2013 and 2014; 97 questionnaires were issued in total, and 87 eligible ones were retrieved, with an eligible retrieving rate of 89.5%. Student’s basic situation was as follows:62( 71. 3%) were male and 25( 28. 7%) were female; the average age was 32.9years old; The vast majority of students(95.4%) were from the village and township hospital, village clinics of students is less than 5%(4.6%);More than one third(35.6%) of the students have worked experience amounted to more than 10 years; their professional job titles of 62(70.1%)them were primary. Among of whom 68(78.2%) had received a college education; Assistant practicing doctors cover 52(59.8%), Registered medical professional in 35(40.2%), There were 13 people have taken national examination for the qualifications of doctors in the training period, of whom 11 people obtained corresponding qualification(5 clinical assistant practicing doctors, 6 clinical practicing doctors);There were no students whom registered general medicine professional. Training effect evaluation was as follows: 88.5% of trainees satisfied with the overall effect of the training;96.5% of 88.5% of trainees satisfied with the overall effect of the training;96.5% of trainees said they would like to attend the training course;87.4% of the trainees think the training was helpful to the promotion of ability; 63.2% of trainees think training time was not enough, 13.8% trainees didn’t satisfied with the course arrangements. Factors currently affecting the training as follows:Low- income, high-spending, curriculums were too many within limited time and emotionally they felt that they were far away from home. There were some problems that affected the training: lack of training in practice, Teaching method was simple, lack of targeted training, training time was too short, insufficient funds, departments at all levels of attention were not enough. They expect case teaching, practice teaching ward round and management of patients so as to improve the ability of diagnosis and treatment of common diseases.They hope was that the training time should be appropriately extended and the theory training should be strengthened. Conclusion The general practitioners training and retraining are beyond all doubt an effective method, for promote service level of practitioner in the short term; Job-transfer training students have had a higher passing rate in national physician qualification examination; but there are several problems still existed. Necessary measures should be carried out such as improvement of training requirements, strengthen management, enhancement of the sense of responsibility for patients, a reasonable time, better payment for training student, combining with the working characteristics to carry out the training to place near their home.
