Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study is to explore whether or not different generations of workers express different needs in the workplace and subsequently what key engagement strategies can be created based on identifying relevant employee/generational needs. The scope of the research is limited to those generations currently actively engaged in work. Those generations include: the Veterans, the Baby Boomer, Generation X, and Generation Y. The study utilized a quantitative method using a previously validated survey to measure overall engagement based on a series of factors.;The results provided statistical evidence to support the researchers' hypotheses that each generation requires a different engagement approach. Those results provide a series of recommendations that can be explored by organizational leaders and human resource professionals in the development of generationally specific engagement strategies.;The research concludes with suggestions on expanding the research to address the changing workforce demographic as well as limitations based on the methodology chosen and respondent groups.
