With the rapid development of urbanization,city has became the main form of inhabitation of human beings.However,lots of social evils have showed up in modern cities since the industrial revolution.Urban space obstructs general social communication,which may cause an extreme downturn of social trust,and the basics lost of social capital production.the social problems like indifference social relationship,increase of social crime,degradation of public life,aggravation of social rage,reduction of democratic participation enthusiasm,and desalination of social responsibility and so on,result in the social operation cost jacked up year by year.The existing urban planning thoughts,theories and practice guidance are more proceed from the fields of City Management,Engineering Technology,Arts&Design etc..The inadequate consideration of human social communication in urban spaces planning is an key reason of the problems above.This study takes communication thought into urban spaces planning and using by the spatial dimension of Communication Science.In the view of human communication,one of the urban spaces'big functions is forming social spiritual communities through the production and development of social communication network.The neglecting of space's media role in urban planning lead to the imbalance of space-time media using in the city.Under the appearance of city's prosperity,the broken general social trust network can hardly rebirth soon,which has negative effects on social capital production based on social trust.The urban spaces planning and design should respect and contain communication science,in order to build general social cooperation network,and also to produce general social trust based on human basic moral.This study try to find the reason of social trust declination in modern cities,meanwhile offer the solution thoughts of building urban spirit community and social trust.The study contains five parts to discuss the problems.The introduction part states the background of the main topic,showed the purport and thoughts of this study,and established the theoretical map of urban space communication.The second section clarified the definition of urban space from the view of communication science,point out the key role of social trust which can be running as basis of social capital in the procession of urbanization.With the nature of vessel-magnet,city need the time-space evidences to start and communicate the general social trust,these two evidences are generalized altruistic behavior and the identity field of moral community separately.Space and space objects can take the responsibility in building the spirit community and social trust in their media form of collective memory,social space production proceed and daily communication rite when time-natured mass media can not do it well.The third section discuss and analysis the communication model and procession of urban space.The urban planning aim on form the social order after industrial revolution shows the features of capital expansion demands on three aspects of urban layout,functional regional division,and spatial scale,and influence the space users social actions and relationships through their interpretation and perception of spaces.The communicate-rite communication in urban spaces is the most original form of relationship network building and group cooperation.Urban space communication has its spirit value of express and share believes,considerate the same value through integrate,broadcast and declare moral,pacify and embody spirits,share and make intergenerational transition of moral and emotion through connecting,assembling and saving collective memories.The feedback of urban space using can remind a series of problems which is against the demand of human's communication in urban planning.The fourth section illuminate the rationality and inevitability of the link between urban space and social trust first.Then it points out the essence of the current situation and communication results influenced by six space planning forms of modern urban space media.In the conclusion section,the study argues that the space-dimension of communication science is quite an extremely important measure of observing and searching the resolution of social trust problems.From the view of the promotion of human communication and social trust,the study put forward ten principles for the modern urban public space planning.Regard the urban space as media,we can focus on building and improving the public spaces to make them more suitable for general social association,and in order to promote social trust and community responsibility sense on one hand.On the other hand,the study emphasizes the significance of city space users' media literacy in space communication.If the users can choose public spaces as their main social communication style,the sense of cooperation on human moral will be evoked,and the benefits from this cooperation and community can also be understood.And only in this way,we can correct that many problems caused by the imbalance of modern time-space media using.
