The Evaluation Research On International Competitiveness Of Chinese STM Journal

Nowadays, the competition of aggregate national strength among various countries, technical competition is the key element. The technical innovation ability decides the developing speed of a nation. As an important constituent of technical enterprise and an important scientific publication of a country, STM journal is regarded as an important symbol of science and technology level of a country and also incarnates scientific researcher’s ability.With the development of technical strength in China, the international competitiveness of STM journal should match the international standing which our country locates. However the researches mainly focus on theory such as STM journal quality, STM journal edition and publication, STM journal reform and development and so on. There are few research works on the international competitiveness of STM journal based on data analysis. The paper basic thought is that through the international famous indicator system and lots of statistic data, it analysizes the level of international competitiveness of Chinese STM journal so that it finds out the distance between Chinese and internaltional STM journal and puts forward corresponding countermeasure to accelerate development of our country STM journal. The full text can be divided into eight chapters.Part one is the introduction. The introduction has elaborated the practical significance of the research in this paper, systematically analysized the research present situation at home and overseas, proposed the research thought of this paper.Part two has first reviewed the development of Chinese STM journal, then analysized the characters of international STM journal market, finally discussed the problem of STM journal’s international competitiveness coming from.In part three, by utilizing the theory of management, it elaborates the concept, composition and mechanism of STM international competitiveness evaluation. It proposes that academic competitiveness, edition and publication competitiveness and management competitiveness should be three component parts of STM international competitiveness.Part four has introduced evalucation indicator system of STM inIn part five, by using literature metrology and JCR which is international famous evalucation system of journal, it has analyzed the international competitiveness of Chinese discipline STM journals lengthways and breadthwise. First from the longitudinal angle, it studied on the comparison of Chinese discipline STM journals from 2001 to 2008 so as to appraise their development. Then it carried on crosswise contrast of home, international average level and Asian countries so as to appraise the international standing of Chinese STM journal.Part six has explored the competitiveness level of English edition of Chinese STM journal. This charpter first has reviewed the development of English edition of Chinese STM journal, then found both English edition of Chinese STM journal and non-English edition of Chinese STM journals’competitiveness level are very low after comparing with them. Finally using lots of samples from the publication and management angle, analyzed the factors which has influenced on the development of English edition of Chinese STM journal.In part seven, after having analyzed the factors which has influenced on the international competitiveness of Chinese STM journal based on the anterior appraisal result, it thinks that unreasonal journal management system, editorial board operating mechanism, social appraisal mechanism and SCI appraisal system are the causes.In part eight, the countermeasures for hoisting international competitiveness of Chinese STM journal have been brought forward.
