China is experienced unprecedented urbanization movement at present. Along with the rapid development of China’s urbanization, increasing the number of landless peasants, landless peasants have become the focus of China’s current social problems. The urbanization transformation of landless peasants is one of the core issues which must be urgently solved in the process of current development of China’s urbanization. This article is occured in the context of the development of China’s urbanization, from the media’s point of view, to explore the relationship between landless peasants’media use and its urban transformation. Media are seen as social cultural communicators and advocates, at the same time the media are also considered to produce an important role in the construction of identity and cultural identity of each person. Therefore, the transformation of landless peasants’identity and cultural identity is the core issue in the process of urbanization transformation. Thus, the core of this dissertation is to explore the relationship between landless peasants’media use and their identity and cultural identity. The main methods of this paper are community study and case study, and Guangzhou Gu Wei Xin Cun community is selected as a community case to carry out the empirical research. This empirical study took mainly quantitative research, and qualitative research was supplemented. The specific research object of this paper are the landless peasants lived in Gu Wei Xin Cun, Guangzhou. Specifically, the paper emphasizes on the following six important research questions:RQ1:how the relationship between the type of media contact and landless peasants’ identity and cultural identity?RQ2:how the relationship between the time of media use and the landless peasants’ identity and cultural identity?RQ3:how the relationship between landless peasants’ media contact content preferences and their identity and cultural identity?RQ4:How the relationship between motivation of media use and landless peasants’ identity and cultural identity?RQ5:how the relationship between media trust and landless peasants’identity and cultural identity? RQ6:how the relationship between media satisfaction and landless peasants’ identity and cultural identity? To explore the relationship between landless peasants’media use and their identity and cultural identity in the process of their urbanization transformation, the author must first examine the specific situation of landless peasants’ media use and their identity and cultural identity of the status quo. Thus, before to explore the core issue of this article which is the relationship between landless peasants’media use and their transformation of the urbanization, this paper gives descriptive research of the landless peasants respondents’ media use and their identity and cultural identity. The conclusion of this study is media have become an important part in the lives of landless peasants, and have major impact on the construction of identity and cultural identity of landless peasants in the transformation process of the urbanization. Television is still occupy a first important position in the lives of landless peasants, and it is the main source of the landless peasants access to information. Computer network has risen to the second-largest medium which landless peasants can obtain information; and newspaper is the third-largest medium of landless peasants access to information. Though landless peasants use mobile phone constantly, for the majority of landless peasantss, the mobile phone is considered as a communication tool not a medium to access information. So mobile phone is the fourth-largest medium of landless peasants access to information. The time and frequency of landless peasants contacted radio and magazine is relatively limited. In all kinds of media investigated in the questionaire, computer network has most active impact on landless peasants’indentity and cultural indentity in the process of urbanization tansition. The more landless peasants contact and use computer network, the stronger their adaptability of the urban life become, and they will be more adapt to urban culture, and then they will be more inclined to see themselves as "citizen" identity. Secondly, the newspaper also have a positive impact on landless peasants’urban culture identity and "citizen" identity. The more landless peasants contact and read newspaper, the stronger their adaptability of the urban life become, and they will be more adapt to urban culture, and then they will be more inclined to see themselves as "citizen" identity. It should be noted here that though the statistic of this research cann’t verify the obvious correlation between "information from television" and landless peasants’identity and cultural identity in the process of urbanization transformation because the landless peasants’ number of watching TV is almost near to the total sample.it cann’t improve TV contact hasn’t important influence on landless peasants’urbanization transformation. The reaseach testified that the less landless peaseants used and contacted the television, the more they would be inclined to accept traditional rural cultural identity and peaseant’s indentity. In addition, the time of media use of landless pesants is making an active influence on their citizen identity and urban cultural identity. The more time landless peasants spend in contacting all sorts of media, the stronger their citizen identity and urban cultural identity will become. On the contrary, the less time of contacting media of landless peasants, they are relatively exclusive to urban culture, poor adaptability to urban culture, and they are also more inclined to peasant’s identity. The contents of media contact of landless peasants also have different influence on their transformation of urbanization. The media contacted contents on "education, science and technology news" have the strongest impact on the transformation of landless peasants urbanization. Those landless peasants who more concerned about "education, science and technology news", have relatively open minds, and have relatively strong sense of democratic participation, so they are more willing to accept urban culture and urban lifestyle and also tend to accept citizen identity. Besides, if landless peasants more concerned about "the other city news "and "entertainment and sports news ", their urban culture identity and citizen identity also become relatively stronger. However, Those landless peasants who more concerned about the "rural news " by using media, relatively often missed the rural life of the past ownership of land, more inclined to the identity of the "peasants". At the same time, the survey also finds out that the motivations of media use have important impacts on the transition of urbanization of landless peasants. The motivation of "learning knowledge, enriching experience" will have a positive impact on landless peasants’urbanization transition. That is to say, holding learning motivation to use the media, landless peasants have stronger adaptability of city life, they may more incline to accept citizen identity and urban cultural identity. Finally, media trust and media satisfaction both have positive correlation with the transformation of the urbanization of landless peasants. The higher media trust and media satisfaction of landless peasants become, the stonger their adaptability of urban life will become, and the stronger consciousness of citizen identity and urban cultural identity will become.
