First Lady is an important label and an invisible card of the soft power of a country. She is an important part of the national image.March22,2013, Peng Liyuan accompanied President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow, which was her debut as first lady. She became the new "Chinese Cards".The "Liyuan Style" costumes, makeup, brand added so much "human touch" to Chinese diplomacy, that "Guangming Daily" has made a series of reports on Peng Liyuan."New York Times" published an article,"Peng Liyuan:from a singer to first lady." On June8th, accompanied Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States, with a Chinese-style costumes, Peng Liyuan entered the United States public view. U.S. media focused attention on her, and they shared the view that she created the diplomatic history of Chinese first lady. Take the reports on Michelle Obama of the "New York Times" and "Guangming Daily" as a reference,This paper collected the reports on Peng Liyuan between March2013and April2014of this two newspapers. Based on analysis and comparison of the reports from the "Guangming Daily"and"New York Times",the study found that the first lady of China and US have different image, but intercultural first lady often have similar affinity characteristics.Reported on Peng Liyuan,"Guangming Daily" put more emphasis on the country’s image, by contrast, the "New York Times" lay more emphasis on achievement and the extent of her contribution. Meanwhile, the first lady of the two media reports have emphasized morality, and they both take public service activities as the trump to establish the cultural image.Through the discussion, we find that cultural identity has an important influence on the reports about First Lady. In the paper, this aspect above will be clarified from the angle of cultural image, cultural mission, cultural taste. In the discussion of cross-cultural identity of First Lady, this paper thinks the clothing performance can represent Chinese elements; charity work can show the responsibility of China as a big power, and good emotional behavior can reflect First Lady’s friendly image. Cross-cultural communication of the First Lady needs to change idea in four angles. Firstly, we should change the propaganda into communication to establish culture confidence. Secondly, we need to change the way of thinking to achieve cultural reciprocity through equal communication. Thirdly, we also need to change attitudes to improve cultural taste and promote national brands. Fourthly, we need to change the image to establish Chinese culture image and introduce our own culture.
