The advent of the Internet age and the rise of postmodernism have changed the status of the public in communication activities.On the one hand,the willingness of the audience to express their opinions is stronger;on the other hand,the tolerance and acceptance of minority cultures are also Improved.The phenomenon of popular identification of niche cultural symbols frequently occurs,which means that the limitations of the “silent spiral” on social media are magnified and no longer have the applicability of the traditional media era.This paper first uses questionnaires and network ethnography as the research method,and takes the example of Yang Chao,the idol-developing program "Creation 101",to explore the popular identification and characteristics of the minority cultural symbols in the social media era.Then the in-depth interviews are the main The research method analyzes and generalizes the role and occurrence law of the "anti-silent spiral" theory behind the phenomenon.The ultimate significance of this research is to verify the adaptability and limitations of the "silent spiral" theory in the Internet environment,and to point out the direction for the development and improvement of future communication theory.Through case analysis and theoretical discussion,first,the popular identity of minority cultural symbols takes place under the influence of external factors such as media technology,cultural policy and market and social psychology.In this process,the promotion of minority cultural groups and capital operation also plays a role.An indispensable role.The public's way of identifying the minority cultural symbols can be summarized as follows: after active understanding through multiple channels,the substituting and rational coexistence in emotional identity,but lagging and negative in the behavioral identity level.Second,the phenomenon that the minority cultural symbols in the social media era realize the public identity is essentially the spiral of anti-silence.The premise of the anti-silence spiral is the change of the communication environment and the influence of the cultural background.The audience can avoid the social isolation fear and group pressure,and boldly and actively express their opinions;the minority continues to voice and some in the process of communication.Specific conditions—including the nature of the event,the degree of conflict of the audience,the attribution of the audience,etc.,are the premise of the spiral of silence;the question of online public opinion based on the improvement of the consciousness of the audience and the positive promotion of the minority in the reversal of public opinion is the spiral of anti-silence."Start and accelerate nodes."In summary,the anti-silence spiral is not an accidental phenomenon in the social media era.The conditions and laws of its occurrence are in line with the future social culture and media development trends,but the silent spiral has not completely failed in the Internet,and should be combined in future research.The law of the anti-silence spiral is perfected and supplemented by the theory.
