This paper first introduces the background, meaning, theoretical resources, researching route and method as well as related research reviews from home and abroad. Then the paper tends to analyzes and summarize the characteristics of the reports by combing the reportage activities conducted by the Xinhua News Agency (including the content, quantity and method) at different stages of the global financial crisis.In the second part, this paper discusses the existing problems in the news coverage of international financial crises by the Xinhua News Agency by using agenda-setting and frame theory. These problems includes "hysteretic agenda-setting","weak agenda-setting""biased agenda-setting","inappropriate framework of the report" and so on.The third part deeply goes into the causes of these problems and indicates that the main influencing factors are "the trammel of traditional news ideas","the tangle of function position","the defect of management","the effect of professional quality of journalists" etc.Finally, proceeding from China’s actual conditions, the author puts forth four suggestions for the Xinhua News Agency to enhance the impact in reporting the international financial crises. They are resetting the news idea, setting function positions scientifically, innovating the mechanism of management, improving the professionalism of journalists.
