The Study Of Wen Yibao(1949-1966)

This paper deals with the periodical The Wenyibao (1949-1966), which has a great bearing over the inception and development of China contemporary literature. Periodical research is chosen as our subject issue, representing a kind of media which are playing an ever-increasing comprehensive role in the study of the history of literature and arts with the unique power to recur the setting of literature and arts. 1949-1966, as a turning period connecting its preceding and upcoming times, witnesses the convergence of special historical importance of contemporary literature and arts. The Wenyibao, having promoted the new system to take shape and function well while in itself being component of the system, is a perfect vehicle for studying the characteristics of the new system. In addition to a similar relationship with the trend of literature and arts as it does with the system, the paper works as a media to connect the system with the trend of literature and arts in a specific period of time presenting the previously overlooked causalities in contemporary history of literature and arts to give new conclusions.Among other causalities, a key one is concerned with Human, here identified as intellectuals, since The Wenyibao, with intellectuals as its soul, bears the indelible impression of Human. On one hand, in examining the paper's editing framework, the perspective of the relationship between media and Human should be emphasized, with an effort to show up the function and significance of the media connected with Human, or even in an attempt to explore into the media networking the factors involving with Human, material being, traditional heritage and structure to analyze, paraphrase to seek some solutions about Human geared to the contemporary political literature and arts. On the other hand, the study on modern editing traditions can't be conducted without due reference to that on the intellectuals' life of writing before 1949, especially on the impact of the turning of the editors with the paper and the complex process and the must of the result of the turning as well as the destinies of the involving people. Thirdly, the media represented by The Wenyibao exerted its driving force on modern movement of literature and arts and its great influence on modern writing traditions through Human. The major critical events taking place in 1954, 1955 and 1957, though with significant distinctions, universally influence the modern system, trend, writing traditions of literature and arts, and their future development by directly affecting the human involved in the process. Fourthly, back from the perspective from the editors to the author of this paper, by studying the connection of modern media with the author, the generalization is made about the new requirements of the new system for authors, ways of writing, writing traditions and new organizing means, and the important transit role of the new system.Our study is carried out in line with the 3 threads of thinking, namely, the study on media, history of literature and arts and human; from 3 perspectives, namely, the thinking trend, system and writing traditions; with 3 basic attitudes, namely, return to the spot of literature and arts, return to the question itself, and return to the modern order. The above constitute the primary researching methodology of this paper.
