The pan-entertainment phenomenon of the media, which is warming up and expanding, reflects the loss of the originality of culture, the deficiency of artistic creativity, and the laggard aesthetic sentiment, and these are the embodiment of the overall decline of contemporary medium entertainment culture. This paper uses the development of the mass media and the existing problems as a clue to analyze the relationship between the mass media and the entertainment-oriented culture and art. This paper falls into three parts. The first part discusses the mass media and mass culture, holding that they have a symbiotic relationship. The mass culture is an immediate product of the mass media, and the mass media provides a vast space for the development of mass culture. The rise of the mass media is in direct contact with the marketization of the media and the audience's demand. The rise of market provides the mass media with an opportunity to develop. An urbanized society provides material guarantee for the development of the mass media. In a period of social transition, the audience turns to the media based on particular needs and motives. This virtually sends the mass media onto the journey towards entertainment. The second part expounds and proves that mass media have reinforced the tendency of culture and arts entertainment. On the one hand, people love mass media because they are popular, funny and amused. On the other hand, mass media tend to be out of taste and recreational in order to survive and make profits and meet the taste of the audience in the industrial society. This is determined by its own nature of commerce, consumption, marketing, industry, and the characteristics of catering for the audience. Media products are of poor quality and lack of taste. News report becomes amused. The absence of responsibility becomes a main problem in the media circle. The third part, in view of the current existing problems, discusses that the media should have more responsibilities to enhance the quality of reports to improve their images. The deep reasons of the entertainment-oriented mass media lie in the fundamental contradictions and the perplexity of loss in the times of market economy and entertainment media. The recessive product and the status of the mass media decide on that the media should correctly handle the relationship between economic and social benefits and it should give top priority to social benefits.
