This thesis, aiming at representation of government image working by mass media in the era of social transformation, analyzes discourse features of pluralistic expression in leading discourse and studies, by paying attention to this stirring time when social structure is dividing and social interests are tending to plural ones, its interactive relationship between news production and social factors especially between politics, economy and social power as well. Based upon this research, the author attempts to reflect the feature of true and complicated news production practice and power regulation which hide in grand narrative and simple conclusion. As a result, interactive relationship could be reflected between news production and social control, news reform and social transformation as well as media system and social context, which can provide news workers with vivid theories.This thesis, totally orienting sociology of news production and relying on theories of ternary model of Politics—Economy—Society as well as Fielding, concludes and analyzes government image represented from social transformation era and then explains the generated reason as well as the impact on news production from social power with the help of discourse analysis and deep interview, as a result of which, greater significance and novelty can be shown in the establishment of theory routes and research methods.The following lists its major contents:Chapter one discusses this thesis' central content and research significance. In it, the author establishes theory system and research method by combining research achievements home and abroad and then elaborates key words.Chapter two deals with the deduction of representation of government image from mass media, based upon collected numerous reports and comments of government image and reconstructed main topics, by using the theory of constructionism. In it, it focuses on discourse strategy from the perspective of theme structure and news source.Chapter three , majorly by analyzing control on mass media representation of government image working by political power, attempts to show main characteristics of representation of government image in the system of leading discourse. And then the development and improvement of control approaches that politics has an influence on news production are elaborated by focusing on the system of news speaker. The impact how political power has an effect on edition and news workers and guarantees its leading position can be studied.Chapter four analyzes the reason, methods and impacts economy and social power penetrate into field of edition and influence on representation of government image. Development of market economy, interests division, formation of interest groups, market reform of mass media all make economic power helped by capital power influence on news production of mass media whereas social power must be relied on news workers' professional practice. The struggle between these two powers and then political power dispel and reconstruct government image, embodying its representation with plurality.Chapter five analyzes how news workers reflect and re-arrange their powers in the field of edition and impacts of practice on government image in the direction of their discursive practice.In the concluding chapter, the thesis, based on representation of mass media of government image, catches its attention on interactive relationship and probable route option of mass media and democracy in the context of Chinese transformation.
