This article conducts preliminary research on the news entertainmentization of Chinese media with an emphasis on the entertainmentization's detailed presentation in Chinese media production, and further on the different ways of that presentation in corresponding different kinds of news and media.This article suggests that there are currently three levels of interpretation of news entertainmentization, a localized concept introduced from outside China. First, it is a news production means used to improve the readability and appeal of news. Secondly, it is the overall presentation of the news as a result of the means mentioned above. Thirdly, it is even the developing trend of news production indicated in the repeated use of the means and the presentation. Based on this understanding, news entertainmentization is defined in this article as: an operating means, a content presentation or a developing trend of the news production, in which or in part of which the entertainment elements are incorporated or even emphasized to the greatest extent. The following research concerning three kinds of news just derives from this guiding definition.This article explores how sports news, city news and politics news, as the three kinds of news selected for research which shows descending degrees of entertainment and ascending degrees of instruction, employ different means to construct and present different features of entertainmentization.The article is divided into six chapters:Chapter One describes the research framework, outlines the status quo of research regarding news entertainmentization in China and then points out that the exploration into news entertainmentization fills the blank of this research field.Chapter Two dates back to the equivalent of the concept in Western context and related research, thus clarifying the different domains and expressions of the same concept in different contexts.Chapter Three to Chapter Five analyze the reception and illustration of news entertainmentization in sports news, city news and politics news respectively, discuss the developing trend of news entertainmentization in Chinese context.
