On The Poetical Character Of The Chinese Traditional Opera

The paper tried to explain the unique aesthetic characteristic of the Chinese traditional opera from the poetical character and the culture reason why the Chinese traditional opera formed. Within the discussion, the author, who drew on the rational academic fruits of today's opera research and referred to the western opera theory, specifically analyzed and omniview depicted the poetical character of the Chinese traditional opera, based on the zaju of the Yuan Dynasty and the legend of Ming-Qing Dynasty, depended on the traditional poetry's and melody's theory, coordinated with the traditional opera like one of the play.To provide the theoretical foundation, the author had regulated and analyzed the poetical character of Hegel~the westerner, the ancient melody experts, Wang guowei and Yu shang yuan--the modern time experts , up to zhanggeng—the present age expert before the author tried to expand his paper. Based on the above, the author initially defined the concept intension and its various figures of poetical character and explained the relation among poetical character, drama, stage's character in brief.On the whole, the poetical character expresses itself: 1 .the combination of poet's enjoying, poetry, stage art has a decisive function to opera 's mature and model when the traditional operas occur and develop. 2. melody as the basement. The melody (rhyme and music) is the core of the traditional opera. 3.the dramatists in heart took the traditional opera as a tool of indulge based on the dramatists' talent. the dramatists put their emotion up to the top. 4.The traditional opera had the doctrine of the mean in whole aesthetic.Considering the text and stage, the author found various views in poetical character: the traditional opera literary often contains melancholy and poetic as its emotion foundation; the traditional opera literary structure types deliberately have emotion expansion and mainly went in for the artistic conception with non-plot trend; More, the traditional opera literary shows that the dramatists kept the protagonists at arm's length with the substituting-language poems to image the figures, which made the drama contradictory; At last, the traditional opera literary gives the opera language with extrinsic rhyme and intrinsic artistic conception and mainly pursues the elegant. On the stage, the poets are performed by the actors, who run the poetic thought logic, create the artistic conception and include the moral emotion though fable story.Though the culture background, the authors considered the reasons about the poetical character of the Chinese traditional opera as follows. 1 .the most distinct factor is the lyrics tradition with abound with amount and long history.2.the second factor is the Chinese art spirit cultivation accompanying nature thought. 3.the deeper factor may be the national consciousness decided by the poeticalcharacter' thought model following the subjective perception.
