There are five collections of Chinese classical dramas(Zaju)with annotations published in Ming dynasty,including all the annotated edition of Zaju in Ming dynasty except The Romance of West Chamber.The dissertation consists of four parts.The introduction briefly reviews the development of dramas of Ming dynasty,and generally introduces the collections of dramas with annotations published in Ming dynasty.Based on the comprehensive analysis of previous studies,we summarize the significants of the study on the collections of dramas.The first chapter aims at an overall study on the criticism of Famous Anthology of The Ancient and Modern Dramas,introducing the edition and the compilation of the anthology,and exploring the theoretical value of the criticism of characterization?narrative?arts of lyrics and writing style.The second chapter focuses on th the annotations of Dramas of Ming Dynasty,mainly analyzing criticism of social culture?arts of lyrics and narrative.The third chapter is divided into two parts.Part one is the study on criticism of the collection of dramas named Sorrowful Sounds of Ape,while part two is the study on the collection named Love Stories of Four Seasons.As the critics of Sorrowful Sounds of Ape,Hongdao Yuan paid his attetion to arts of lyrics of dramas,while Dengdaoren gave comparatively comprehensive comments on dramas.Study on Love Stories of Four Seasons attaches more importance to the theoretical value of criticism of arts of lyrics?characterization and narrative.Criticism of five collections of dramas published in Ming dynasty is not only a profound reflection of the social situation of Ming dynasty,but also a valuable theoretical source which give impetus to the advance of theory of Chinese classical dramas.That is where the significant of the study lies.
